The Skate Canada Education Symposium
July 4 to July 12, 2017

The Skate Canada Education Symposium is a new and exciting initiative aimed at providing best-in-class development opportunities for coaches, officials, clubs and skating schools from across Canada.
In a shared learning environment, the symposium will offer the following education courses and seminars both on and off the ice:
- NCCP courses and update workshops for coaches
- Special Feature: New this year is the “Get Coaching Symposium Package” that will allow new aspiring coaches to fast track their NCCP education by completing the course and evaluation requirements sequentially in one week
- Officials’ qualification training and updates workshops
- Program delivery workshops
- Special Feature: Music and Movement seminar with Mark Pillay and Gordon Cobb

Lunch & Learn Series: Thank you to all coaches who participated this year. We are currently planning our activities for next year.
NEW THIS YEAR... Design your own seminar for your skaters!
Looking to introduce your skaters to some new concepts, inspire their learning or add some variety in their training? You choose the topics/areas that you would like offered, we will arrange the faciliator, ice and registration. Topics include all on and off ice areas for all disciplines at any level. Available times for these seminars are Mon - Fri, between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm.
Guest Coach Lessons....Arrange a day for your skaters to have some lessons with a Guest Coach of your choice. Base coaches must attend all lessons.
This is a great opportunity to expose your skaters to some different strategies, techniques and philosphies. Let us know which coach you would like us to bring in. We will make all the arrangements, book the ice and set up registration. Coaches have access to a variety of Guest Coaches in all disciplines. Lessons are available for all skaters at all levels STAR 1 and up.
Monitoring Sessions... Arrange a day for your skaters to be monitored by a judge and/or technical specialist.
This is a great opportunity to help prepare for an event or get feedback on a new program. It is also a great way to provide an additional "performance" opportunity for your skaters. Let us know how many skaters you would like to participate and the discipline/level. We will arrange for a judge and/or a technical specialist and handle all registration. Available times for monitoring sessions are Mon - Fri, between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm.
TRAINING ICE AVAILABLE (Olympic ice surface) - Daily 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Monday - Friday
Skater Pricing for ICE only:
Group 1: Any Senior National Team Athlete or, any Athlete who has competed in an International competition assigned by Skate Canada (GP, JGP, and/or SR International) in the last 24 months will not be charged for ice sessions at National Performance Centres.
Group 2: Any Athlete who has competed at Canadians (Novice level or higher) in the last 24 months will be charged $5 per hour for ice sessions at National Performance Centres.
Group 3: Any Athlete who has competed at Challenge (Pre-Novice level or higher) in the last 24 months will be charged $10 per hour for ice sessions at National Performance Centres.
Group 4: All other Athletes who do not fall into the above categories will be charged $15 per hour for ice sessions at National Performance Centres.

Jesse Cook Sc. Honors Kinesiology York University
Jesse is the Director of Athlete Development for Total Performance Athletics. Jesse earned his B Sc. Honors in Kinesiology at York University concurrent with the York University Athletic Therapy Certificate Program. Upon graduation Jesse was a member of the Twist Sport Conditioning Team where he developed himself as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and On-Ice Performance Specialist from 2008-2014. During his time there, Jesse had the opportunity to work with elite athletes from a wide discipline of sports ranging from National level athletes, Major League Baseball, and the National Hockey League. Jesse has worked with athletes of all ages from youth to adult, and weekend warriors but is best known for his work with hockey players on and off of the ice. Through cutting edge programming design and methodologies, TPA drives to be amongst the leaders in the hockey training and the elite athlete development business in the GTA.
Since completing his own playing career at the Junior, University, and amateur pro level, Jesse has continued his passion for the game currently coaching at the Junior A level.
